Cambodia. 1970–80s

In the 1970s and 1980s, I covered the war in Cambodia, working among both communist Khmer Rouge and anticommunist Khmer Serei forces. My photographs document the brutal realities of war, but also the humanity and resilience of the people who lived through it. I was interested not only in the conflict itself, but in the individuals and communities caught within it—their vulnerability, courage and struggle for survival.

A collection of my photographs of the Cambodian Civil War is archived at Rutgers University.
