The Village, Spain. 1960'

In the 1960s, I spent three months photographing daily life in a village in the province of Alicante, Spain.
I photographed the villagers at work, at home and in the streets, observing the gestures, relationships and routines that shaped everyday life. The photographs record a rural community at a particular moment in Spanish history, but they are also part of my earliest attempt to understand people and their lives through photography.
