Sculpture
Sculpture has always offered me a different relationship with the human form. Unlike photography, which begins with something that exists before the camera, sculpture begins with matter and the gradual emergence of form.
My work concentrates primarily on the human figure, particularly the female form and the portrait bust. Working in three dimensions allows me to explore volume, gesture, surface and presence in ways that are fundamentally different from the photographic image.
Whether I am working with a camera, paint or sculpture, the underlying question remains much the same: how much of a human presence can be revealed through form?
