Longing and Repression. 1985-Now

Longing and Repression explores intimacy, desire, restraint and the ways individuals present themselves within relationships.
Photographed primarily through portraits of couples from the Middle East, the series considers the distance that can exist between outward appearance and interior life—the emotions, desires and vulnerabilities that may remain unspoken or concealed.
I am interested in what happens between two people in front of the camera: gestures, proximity, hesitation, tenderness and the subtle psychological space separating one person from another.
